The business idea came from his wife and sister in law who over several glasses of wine one night, were trying to figure out a way to start their own business. The idea came up about the St. Christopher medals and how cool it would be to bring them back. That is how the name Getback came about. That and the influence of a very popular song way back when.

After months of listening to them talk about the idea, he finally asked them if they would like some help getting something started and they said sure. So, he proceeded to get in contact with one of the guy's who did the St. Christopher medals back in the 'sixties'. He sent us out some samples and they did a test market in about 12 surf shops in San Diego county. They started with 4 small colors and 3 large colors and merchandised them on a cool wooden surfboard display that they still use today. They flew out of the shops. Today they have over 80 small colors and 50 or so large colors to choose from.
